Story Consulting is designed for authors who want an ongoing editorial relationship throughout the writing and revision process. Instead of submitting a completed novel for one large developmental edit, we'll work through your story in manageable sections—giving you the opportunity to identify structural issues, strengthen character arcs, troubleshoot scenes, and make intentional decisions as your manuscript develops.

How it Works:
Authors submit approximately 10,000–15,000 words at a time, and I provide developmental feedback based on whatever they're currently trying to solve. Rather than treating each submission as an isolated critique, I’m maintaining familiarity with the project so the feedback can build upon previous sessions.
What You’ll Receive:
Developmental feedback tailored to the questions and challenges you're currently navigating, with focused notes on areas such as character development, structure, pacing, scene execution, emotional arcs, and story direction. Because I remain familiar with your manuscript across rounds, each session can build upon our previous work rather than treating every submission as an isolated critique.
Expected Deliverables:
Developmental review focused on the author's current concerns
Inline comments on the submitted pages where necessary
A concise written feedback summary/consulting notes
One post-feedback email consultation for questions, clarification, and discussing next steps
Note: The above deliverables are per editing round. Booking multiple rounds is accepted and encouraged!

Pricing:
Pricing is based on a flat rate of $0.022/word rather than a monthly retainer to ensure author control of scope and frequency of feedback.
